How to Choose a Canvas Portrait Size

A portrait should work on your wall, not just on your phone. Start with the space, the viewing distance, and the number of faces in the artwork.

Measure the wall before choosing a size

Measure the usable space around the intended position, including nearby furniture, shelves, and existing pictures. Use paper or removable tape to mark the listed dimensions on the wall. This gives a more reliable sense of scale than a styled room image.

Check whether the dimensions shown for your selected product describe the canvas or the finished framed piece. Use the actual product information and allow space for the frame rather than guessing from a digital mockup.

Think about how close you will stand

A small portrait can feel intimate on a shelf or in a compact gallery wall. A larger wall or a longer viewing distance may call for more visual presence. The right choice depends on your room, not on a universal rule that bigger is always better.

Family and multiple-pet portraits divide the available image area among more faces. Consider how easily you want to see each expression from the normal viewing position.

Review the crop for the selected format

Different canvas sizes may have different proportions. Check the live preview after changing size so that hair, ears, hands, and other important details remain inside the artwork area.

The frame preview is a digital representation of your selected artwork and product. Room styling is illustrative, and colors can vary between a screen and a physical print.

Check the current choices and total

The studio shows the canvas sizes, frame finishes, and prices currently available. Choose the actual combination you want and review its price before adding it to the cart.

If the portrait is a gift for a particular date, check shipping information separately. Selecting a size or seeing a free artwork preview does not confirm a delivery date.
